4 Walls” is a film documenting the daily struggles and artistic endeavors of Carlton ‘S.T.A.R.R.’ Releford, a slam poet from Knoxville, Tennessee. Director George Washington Rogers, IV shot over 100 hours of footage and spent two years documenting S.T.A.R.R. When it was time for post-production, George turned to longtime friend & collaborator Brian Greer at GX Media.
The project was very labor-intensive and took many months to sort through all of the footage and edit it down to the final product. What started as over 100 unlabeled miniDV tapes containing footage that seemed to have no rhyme or reason, ended up as a very concise, 44-minute biography of a very talented individual. Brian created the “4 Walls” logo to establish a brand for the documentary, which would include viral videos posted on the internet featuring performances by several slam poets featured in the documentary. Brian also designed the official website, 4WallsFilm.com, which features background information about the documentary, filmmaker bios, an electronic press kit, merchandise links, and a complete multimedia section.
The documentary itself screened at the 2008 Secret City Film Festival to a very positive response. The DVD was also created by GX Media (including the authoring and DVD cover design) and can be purchased through Amazon.com. To this day, Brian considers it some of the best editing work he’s ever done.
